In the first episode of our series of free Irish podcasts The Writer’s Passage, your guide is travel writer John Mulligan who retraces some of the steps he took which led him to write his book ‘Following in the Footsteps of the Four Famous Flannerys’. John takes us to Monasteraden in Sligo where the original journey began, from there we travel to Scramogue in County Roscommon and finish up this writer’s passage at Cloondara in County Longford. We took one or two photographs (below) which we hope will enhance your journey but as usual, we hope you let your imagination paint the pictures of this wonderful pilgrimage.

The Writer’s Passage Photographs:
We arrived in Monasteraden on a foggy October morning to meet with John at Clooncunny bridge.

At Cloondara the fog had lifted and the reflections were terrific.
The Writer’s Passage is produced by Jho Harris and Sinéad McClure with funding assistance from the Literature Project Award from the Arts Council of Ireland.

Well done John, we loved listening to this, It’s a hot night on Flannery Road in Central Otago……and far far away from your shore our whole family sat around the computer sipping New zealand Sav and fanning our selves against the heat as we listened…..One day…..we will return to Ireland to follow in your foot steps…
