Irish weather being what it is, it can be impossible to plan outdoor podcast recordings but when you have Kate Kerrigan’s warm personality to keep you company, even the wilds of a cemetery on the outskirts of Aughmore can be a pleasing place to be even for a couple of people with sound equipment and clipboard in hand.   There was an unplanned surprise in store at the graveyard.  Episode 9 of our Arts Council of Ireland funded series of podcasts The Writer’s Passage features the ever popular Kate exploring the real places that inspired the fictional Irish locations from her 3rd novel “Ellis Island”.  Here is your chance to visit Kilkelly and Aughamore in County Mayo with the lady who portrays them as Killa in her best seller.  Reading from Ellis Island on locations where Ellie was brought up and revisits during her time back in Ireland just a week or two after the book received its American launch.  There is more to come this week from Mick Hanly tooand we delve back into our Waterford and Wexford recordings.
