Michael,

What an achievement. My only reget: I arrived home in Castlebar the day after the Memorial was dedicated. I wish I had known in time - especially as I worked for the Royal British Legion. Maybe one day I'll get to shake your hand; I would be honoured.

Hi Sinead, I could feel the cold you described in the calendar road for november. Yes, the daffodils here on the east coast are gingerly popping their heads above the ground, I hope the frost does not send them back again. The blackbirds in particular love the berries this time of year. "When winter comes can spring be far behind." Teresa

Dear Kate,

I hope this finds you well.

I just loved "Ellis Island", which I came across by accident at "Casa del Libro", one of the most popular bookstores in Spain. You are a truly gifted writer and wish you a fruitful and lasting career. I can't wait to read "City of Hope"!

 Respectfully,

 Enrique from Seville (Spain).

Hi Sinead , I listened to The Calendar Road for October and I am glad I was not around in ancient times. I like to believe their is a cure in stones. Maybe the light that you described beneath the trees, is a Fairy Ring, now I like that thought.

I love hearing about these local talents that the world hasn't really heard of. The fact that she has had not one, two, or three, but FIVE albums speaks volumes about her talent. It was a treat to listen to her play.

Hi May, as others have mentioned here, your writing is amazing considering you had no inspiration for writing as a child. Great information about 1916 and 1921.

l love all the calendar road walks and I especially like the ones about the berries. todays was the sloe berry. I remember eating them in my youth. the test was who could chew them without making a face. There was a song my brother used to sing it was called "The Thorn Tree", and went as follows. "all aroung the thorn tree the little people play and men and women passing would turn there heads away, but if your hearts a childs heart and if your eyes are keen you'll never fear the thorn tree that grows beyond Cloheen (check spelling.) There are definitely a lot of myths attached to the thorn tree and in the song it continues to say"why should they be afraid ?, when from a branch of thorn tree the blessed crown was made."

Dear Vincent,

I have just returned from two weeks in France and was delighted to find your book "Rowdy Rhymes" awaiting me. I ordered it on spec from Amazon after my admiration of your 'Victoria-n-Edwardiana' verses. My faith was well-placed: you are a wordsmith of the first water! I would love to find more of your verse. It is now my intention to come to Dublin--and, if possible, to meet you. Sincere best wishes,

Hello Alice, Found three of your books: Through the Fields, The Village and Country Days, in an Op. shop. Bought them and what a treat! After reading the Village I went on to Google Earth and followed the journey around Innishannon: up the hill to the church, down to the tower, up the High St, and back to your shop and house. It was a magic journey, reminding me of the visit I had with our parish priest from Fremantle, west Australia, in 1980 when he went home to Ballineen for three months and I happened to be in Ireland at the same time. We drove all around Cork and neighbouring counties and had a grand time. I am a 1940s girl also and lived through much the same childhood and schooling, but in Australia. I have recently returned from Limerick where I found the long lost cousins, and that was a great adventure for an old girl too. It is just great to hear you speaking in person and talking of your school days. Thanks so much for sharing your memories, I will be seeking out some more of your books. God bless all at your place, Helen.

Ah Hazel, this brought back warm memories of our conversations in Donegal. I listened to the podcast sitting in the kitchen here in Toronto; it was just like having you in the room! I particularly liked your description of how nerve-racking it was to give your first ever radio interview; I felt exactly the same way. But may there be many more such interviews for you, and many more such stories.
